Dear Passengers Guide: Fly the World's Worst Airline

This Dear Passengers guide walks one shift from end to end: choose a manifest, split the crew, work the cabin, contain the physics, land the aircraft. Everything below is drawn from the official Steam listing and FLEXUS's own posts — where a detail has not been announced, it says so instead of guessing.

01 · WHAT YOU ARE SIGNING UP FOR

What this Dear Passengers guide covers

Three detail pages sit beneath this one. This page is the connective tissue: the order things happen in, and which page answers which question.

A Dear Passengers guide has to start with an unusual admission: the game is not out. Steam gives it a 2026 window, FLEXUS is still adding mechanics, and a public demo has been promised but not dated. So this is a guide to a confirmed system set, not a walkthrough of finished content. The mechanics below all appear in the official description or in official footage; the tactics are reasoned from them and labelled as such.

What is confirmed is the shape of the job. You and up to an unstated number of colleagues run an airline that should not legally be operating. One person flies. Everyone else keeps the cabin — and its passengers, luggage, cargo and catering — from turning into a physics demonstration. Read the Dear Passengers Gameplay page for each system in isolation, and the Dear Passengers Crew Roles page for who should own what.

02 · THE SHIFT, IN ORDER

One Dear Passengers flight from gate to gate

Five decisions, in the order the game appears to present them. Each one narrows what the next one can go wrong about.

  1. 01

Price the manifest before you board anyone

The pre-flight choice of passengers and cargo is the closest thing Dear Passengers has to a difficulty slider. Safe loads are dull and pay accordingly; the lucrative option arrives with its own problems. A new crew that takes every high-value contract on flight one will spend that flight learning the aircraft while it is already on fire.

    RISK ↗ PAYOUT ↗
  2. 02

Assign the cockpit before you push back

Whoever flies should keep flying. Rotating the pilot mid-crisis is how a manageable cabin problem becomes an aircraft problem. Online co-op is confirmed; the maximum crew size is not, so plan around the people you actually have rather than a number you read somewhere.

    PILOT / CABIN
  3. 03

Do the boring service work early

Food, drinks and seated passengers are not the challenge — they are the buffer. Every tray still out and every case still loose when the weather arrives becomes part of the incident. Clear the routine work in calm air and the emergency starts from a tidier cabin.

    SERVE / SECURE
  4. 04

Break the chain, not just the symptom

Turbulence and air pockets throw unsecured objects, and Dear Passengers is built around one accident causing the next. The instinct is to chase whatever is loudest. The better move is usually to stop whatever is generating new problems — an open hatch, a rolling cart, a passenger out of their seat.

    CHAOS IN PROGRESS
  5. 05

Land it, then read the bill

The stated objective is delivery, ideally in one piece. Arrival, safety and payout all appear to matter, but the exact scoring, progression and failure rules have not been published — so treat any tier list of “optimal” runs you find as invention.

    ARRIVE, SOMEHOW

03 · WHAT IS ACTUALLY KNOWN

Confirmed Dear Passengers systems versus open questions

Sorted from the Steam feature panel and official description. Anything not on the left column is not a feature yet, however often it gets repeated. Last checked July 31, 2026.

Confirmed

  • Single-player and online co-op
  • Split pilot / cabin responsibilities
  • Pre-flight passenger and cargo selection
  • Risk-reward payout structure
  • Physics-driven passengers, luggage and cargo
  • Dynamic weather, turbulence and air pockets
  • In-flight emergencies and repairs
  • Windows PC via Steam, 2026 window

Not announced

  • Maximum online crew size
  • Progression, scoring and failure rules
  • How solo play covers multiple jobs
  • Number of aircraft, routes or destinations
  • Voice chat, matchmaking and join-in-progress
  • Local co-op, split screen and crossplay
  • Controller and Steam Deck support
  • Price and exact release day

Two of those open questions get asked constantly. For crew size, see the reasoning on the crew roles page; for timing, the Dear Passengers Release Date page collects every dated statement FLEXUS has made and separates it from the “Fall 2026” phrasing that circulates in press coverage but does not appear on the store page.

04 · BEFORE YOU PLAY

How to get ready for Dear Passengers now

There is nothing to install yet, so preparation is short. Confirm your PC clears the published minimum in the Dear Passengers System Requirements — a DirectX 12 system with a GTX 1060 or RX 6600 XT class card. Then put the game on your list: the Dear Passengers Steam wishlist is the only notification channel FLEXUS controls, which is why roughly two million people have used it.

If you want to see the tone before committing, the announcement trailer breakdown goes through the reveal footage shot by shot and marks which mechanics it genuinely demonstrates. The announcement timeline then covers everything FLEXUS has said since, including the Gamescom demo statement.

05 · GUIDE QUESTIONS

Dear Passengers guide FAQ

Questions specific to using this guide. General game questions are answered on the Dear Passengers game briefing.

Is this an official Dear Passengers guide?

No. This is an independent, unofficial briefing. FLEXUS develops and publishes the game and has not endorsed this site. Where a fact matters, the source link is on the page — and the Steam listing always outranks anything written here.

Can a Dear Passengers guide be accurate before release?

Only about systems, not about content. The mechanics listed here come from the official description and footage, so they are safe. Level layouts, aircraft counts, progression and balance are unknown and deliberately absent — which is why this guide has a confirmed-versus-open column instead of a tier list.

Where should a complete beginner start?

With the Dear Passengers welcome on board briefing. It covers the boarding sequence and the first-flight checklist, then hands you to the gameplay guide once you know what the job involves.

How often is this guide updated?

Whenever a first-party source changes. Each page carries a verification date, and the home page keeps a dated verification log showing what was rechecked and when.
