Dear Passengers System Requirements for Windows PC
The Dear Passengers system requirements published on Steam are a single minimum tier: Windows 10 64-bit, a Core i5 at 2.5 GHz, 8 GB of RAM, a GTX 1060 or RX 6600 XT, DirectX 12 and 4 GB of storage. There is no recommended tier yet. This page explains what each line actually asks for, which parts are the real constraint, and what remains unrated.

Dear Passengers minimum system requirements

The shape of this specification is worth reading, not just the numbers. A 4 GB install alongside a dedicated-GPU requirement says the cost is simulation and rendering rather than asset volume — which fits a game whose defining feature is physics on every passenger, case and cargo crate. What each Dear Passengers requirement means in practice
Windows 10 64-bit — and no other OS
Windows is the only listed operating system. There is no native macOS or Linux build announced, and no Steam Deck rating exists because unreleased games are not rated. Proton compatibility is therefore unknown rather than absent — nobody can test it yet.
Core i5 at 2.5 GHz — a floor, not a target
"Core i5 at 2.5 GHz or equivalent" is loose by design and covers a wide span of generations. For a physics-heavy game the more useful signal is single-thread performance, and any i5 from roughly the last decade clears the stated bar. This is the least likely line to be your problem.
8 GB RAM — the one to watch on older builds
8 GB is a genuine minimum in 2026 rather than a comfortable figure, and it is the number most likely to bite on an older prebuilt that also has to run a browser and voice chat. Since co-op means you will have voice software open, treat 16 GB as the practical target even though Steam asks for 8.
GTX 1060 or RX 6600 XT — the actual gate
This is the requirement that will exclude people. Both cards are dedicated GPUs, so integrated graphics are outside the stated minimum. The pairing is also unusually wide — the RX 6600 XT is substantially faster than a GTX 1060 — which suggests these are early estimates rather than measured equivalents. Expect this line to firm up before release.
DirectX 12 — a hard requirement
DirectX 12 rules out genuinely old hardware regardless of raw performance. If your GPU is DX11-only, the stated minimum does not cover you, and no DX11 fallback has been mentioned.
4 GB storage — unusually small
Four gigabytes is tiny for a modern PC release and points to a compact, systems-driven game rather than a large content library. It may also grow: pre-release install sizes frequently do.
03 · CAN YOUR PC RUN IT
Checking your PC against the Dear Passengers requirements
A minimum specification promises that the game runs, not that it runs at any particular resolution or frame rate — Steam does not state either.
- Dedicated GPU, DX12 capable. Check this first; it is the only line that flatly excludes hardware.
- 16 GB RAM if you can. The stated 8 GB has to also cover Discord, a browser and Windows itself.
- SSD, even though it is not asked for. A 4 GB install on an SSD costs nothing and removes load-time variables.
- Do not judge laptop performance yet. With no recommended tier and no demo, there is no way to test thermals or sustained frame rate.
- Recheck before launch. Pre-release specs on Steam are provisional and this listing has already been edited since reveal.

What are the recommended requirements for Dear Passengers?
None have been published. Steam currently shows a minimum tier only, so there is no official target for higher settings, resolutions or frame rates.
Can I run Dear Passengers on integrated graphics?
It is outside the stated minimum. Both listed cards — the GTX 1060 and RX 6600 XT — are dedicated GPUs, so integrated graphics are not covered by the published specification.
Will Dear Passengers run on Steam Deck?
Unknown. Unreleased games receive no Deck rating, so the status is simply absent rather than negative. There is also no Linux build announced, and no demo to test Proton against.
Is 8 GB of RAM really enough?
It is what Steam asks for. In practice, co-op means voice chat and a browser running alongside the game, so 16 GB is the more comfortable figure — that is guidance, not a published requirement.
Why is the install only 4 GB?
A compact install fits a game built around systems rather than a large content library — the physics, weather and emergency mechanics described on the Dear Passengers Gameplay page cost processing rather than disk. Install sizes also commonly grow between announcement and release.
Are there Mac or Linux versions?
Not announced. Windows PC is the only platform on the listing, and no console version exists either — see the Dear Passengers Release Date page for what has and has not been announced about platforms.
