SECTION 01.3 · BOARDING BRIEFING

Dear Passengers Welcome On Board: Your First Flight Briefing

“Dear passengers, welcome on board” is the cabin announcement the whole game is named after — and the phrasing FLEXUS reuses every time it counts wishlists as passengers onboard. This page explains where the greeting comes from, walks through the boarding sequence that happens before takeoff, and gives a first-flight checklist for a crew that has never done this before.

01 · THE PHRASE

Where “Dear Passengers, welcome on board” comes from

The title is a cabin announcement. “Dear passengers, welcome on board” is the line a flight attendant delivers before departure, and using it as a game name sets the joke up before you have seen a single mechanic: the greeting promises a professional airline, and the game is about the opposite of one.

FLEXUS leans on the same framing in its own updates. Every wishlist milestone has been announced as passengers boarding rather than as a marketing number — “1,500,000 PASSENGERS ONBOARD!” was the studio's headline for the July milestone. If you searched for the phrase after seeing the trailer or one of those posts, this is what connects them. The full sequence of those announcements is on the Dear Passengers Announcement page.

02 · THE BOARDING SEQUENCE

What happens before a Dear Passengers flight departs

The pre-flight phase is where the flight is actually decided. It is also the only calm part of it.

  1. 01

Review who wants to fly with you

Passengers are offered before departure, and they are not interchangeable. Some will be straightforward; some will be the reason the cabin needs a first responder. This is a selection screen, not a formality.

    MANIFEST · PEOPLE
  2. 02

Decide what the hold is carrying

Cargo is offered on the same risk-reward basis, and FLEXUS has been blunt that the illegal-looking freight is where the money is. Accept it knowing it will behave badly in turbulence.

    MANIFEST · CARGO
  3. 03

Welcome them on board and stow everything

Boarding is the last moment when securing luggage costs nothing. Anything still loose when you leave the gate is a physics object waiting for the first air pocket.

    STOW / SECURE
  4. 04

Fill the cockpit, then push back

Name the pilot out loud before departure and leave them there. Rotating the seat later, mid-incident, is how a cabin problem escalates into an aircraft problem.

    COCKPIT ASSIGNED

From here the flight belongs to the systems described on the Dear Passengers gameplay page — weather, turbulence, emergencies — and to whoever is holding the seats described on the crew roles page.

03 · FIRST FLIGHT CHECKLIST

A Dear Passengers first-flight checklist for new crews

Reasoned from the confirmed systems. Nothing here depends on unannounced content, so it should survive contact with the demo.

  • Take the boring manifest first. Flight one is for learning the aircraft, not for the payout. The risk dial will still be there on flight two.
  • Agree on one voice. Someone names the priority; everyone else executes it. Three people improvising independently is the single most reliable way to lose a cabin.
  • Stow before you serve. Trays and cases are cheap to handle in calm air and impossible in rough air.
  • Ask the pilot to narrate. Turns, descents and weather announced three seconds early are worth more than a smooth flight path.
  • Expect the comedy to be the mechanic. When something absurd happens, it is the physics system working as intended — deal with the cause, then laugh.
  • Check your PC first. The published minimum is on the system requirements page; there is no recommended tier to aim at yet.

04 · WHO IS ALREADY ON BOARD

Two million passengers boarded before launch

The greeting turned out to be unusually literal. Dear Passengers passed 500,000 wishlists within hours of its 14 July 2026 reveal, 700,000 inside 36 hours, and one million in under two days — enough for a place in Steam's Top 25 most wishlisted games, which FLEXUS says it reached with no ads, no paid creators and no marketing spend. By 20 July the studio was announcing 1.5 million; by 22 July it was describing the total as close to two million.

Those are wishlists, not sales, downloads, reviews or players — a distinction worth keeping, since the game is unreleased and has no user reviews. If you want to add yourself to the count, the Dear Passengers Steam wishlist walkthrough takes four steps, and the Steam page breakdown explains what the listing does and does not promise.

05 · BOARDING QUESTIONS

Dear Passengers welcome on board FAQ

Checked against official FLEXUS sources on July 31, 2026.

Is “welcome on board” a line in the Dear Passengers game?

It is the cabin greeting the title is built from, and FLEXUS uses the same framing in its milestone posts, which count wishlists as passengers onboard. No specific in-game voice line has been published, because the game is unreleased.

Am I looking at the right Dear Passengers?

If it is a co-op airline game from FLEXUS on Steam under app 4534960, yes. Several unrelated mobile apps use similar names and are not connected to this game. No Android or iOS release has been announced — the Dear Passengers Steam page confirms Windows PC as the only listed platform.

Can I board yet?

Not yet. There is nothing downloadable: FLEXUS is preparing a Gamescom demo and has said a public demo will follow, but no date exists. The Dear Passengers Release Date page tracks that status against the 2026 window on Steam.

What should the first thing I do in a Dear Passengers flight be?

Secure the cabin. Everything else — service, cargo checks, the cockpit handover — is easier from a tidy cabin, and stowing is only cheap while the air is calm. The rest of the order is on the Dear Passengers guide.

Do I need friends to play?

No — single-player is on the Steam feature list. But the systems are designed around a crew talking to each other, so co-op is the intended experience. The crew roles guide covers both cases.
